Gladys Marie (West) Brock Horne

Mrs. Gladys Brock Horne, 82, of 131 W. Faison Avenue, died on September 24th 2016 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill with her family by her side.  

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, September 28th at 2:00 pm at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with Dr. Ron Bryan officiating.  Burial will be held after the service and visitation at Turkey Cemetery.

Gladys, a native of Sampson County, was born on July 14, 1934.  She was the daughter of the late Thurman David West and Macy Pauline McGee West.  She was a retired customer service employee with Roses in Clinton and a member of Turkey Baptist Church. She was the widow to Mr. Albert Woodrow Brock and Mr. Gordon Horne. Gladys loved to shop, she had a lively spirit and always had something nice to say to make those she loved smile. 

She is survived by her three daughters: Betty Marie Brock Griffin (Jeffrey) of Faison; Donna Brock Cummings of Faison; and Brenda Brock Barbour (fiancé Jared Ohern) of Warsaw; her brother, Bobby West (Elaine)of Turkey; her sisters: Ann Hudson (John) of West Columbia, SC and Sarah White of Turkey; her daughter-in-law, Joann Brock of Warsaw and brother-in-law, Bill Fortier of Derry, NH.  Mrs. Gladys was also blessed with eleven grandchildren: Donovan Wayne Brock (Stephanie), Amber Paige Brock, Scott Brown, Tonya Tyndall, Jeffrey Shane Griffin (Kaye), Heather Griffin Distel (Chris), Corey Allen Gregory (Crystal Gayle), Ashley Lynn Taylor (Mason Drew), C.D. Vernon (Krystal), Cora Renee Sutton (Matthew) and Tiffany Griffin; fourteen great-grandchildren: Noah, Connor & Laynie Brock, Justin Pierce, Allie Brown, Brantlee Mercer, Cody Brown, Caden & Cheyenne Griffin, Jersie Honeycutt, Jaxon & Jaydn Taylor, Rylee Vernon and Cole Sutton.  She had a large family and many friends who all loved her dearly.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Winnie Lee Blackmore, her son, Larry Wayne Brock, her sister, Faye Fortier and her brother-in-law, Ken White, Sr.

A visitation will be held after the service, and other times at her home.
