Mr. William “Bill” Ruthes Ellis, 82, of 1022 Kitty Fork Rd., passed away on Monday, July 11th 2016 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday evening, July 14th 2016 at 7:00 pm at Owen Grove PFWB Church, 1085 Kitty Fork Rd., Clinton, with Rev. Kim Strickland and Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating.  Graveside Services will be held on Friday morning, at 11:00 am at the Owen Grove PWFB Church Cemetery.

Born on May 24th 1934 in Sampson County, Bill was the son of the late Jeff Franklin and Janie Lou Lockamy Ellis.  He was a member of Owen Grove PFWB Church.  He was a very hard-working man, having retired from the Department of Transportation, Ezzell Trucking and Herring Bros.  He was a truck driver for many years and also loved traveling all over the United States with his family. 

Bill leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Christine King Ellis; One son, Jackie Dewayne Ellis of Clinton; two sisters: Mrs. Doris Tyndall of Clinton and Mrs. Mavis Tyndall of Roseboro; one brother, Tommy Ellis of Tar Heel.  He was also blessed with two granddaughters: Natalie Baker (Jamie) of Clinton; and Nicole Peterson (Chad) of Clinton; and three great-grandchildren: Ivey Kate & McCray Peterson and Cameron Raynor.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Jordan and two brothers: Decosta Ellis and Johnny Ellis.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday evening, in the church fellowship hall, and other times at the home.
