Mrs. Maomi Matthews Jones, 90, of 995 Tomahawk Hwy, Harrells passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, 2017 with her family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, 301 McKoy St., Clinton with Rev. Stephen Mazingo officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrells Cemetery.

Born on March 10, 1927, Maomi was the daughter of the late Algie and Lily Williams Matthews.  She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and a homemaker all her life. She was known around the community for her quilts, having made numerous and continuing the craft until less than a year ago.  She was a pillar in the community with a strong love for her family and friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Maomi is survived by her two daughters: Lalon Jones Opheim (Tom) of The Villages, Florida; Debbie Jones Hodges of Harrells; her son, David Amos “Dickie” Jones, Jr. (Carol) of Wallace; two sisters: Lillian Wood of Wallace; Reba Tiller of Whortonsville, NC; and one brother, Robert Matthews of Wallace. She was also blessed with four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Amos Jones; three sisters: Dorothy Moore, Sarah Fahrney, Sue Scronce and two brothers: William and Waylon Matthews.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning, beginning at 10am at the funeral home; and other times at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 3HC Hospice Care, Inc.: 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC  27534.
