Mr. Wilbert Best, 93, passed away Monday evening, April 4, 2022 at his home.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, April 9th at 3:00 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Shook officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at at 2:00 pm; and other times at his home in Clinton.
Born on June 29, 1928 in Dobbersville, Wilbert was the son of the late Tobe Joseph and Penny Flemming Best. He retired after forty years of service with Sears; and was also a Used Car Dealer in Clinton until retirement. He was one of the best “salesmen” in the industry and many would say “Wilbert could sell ice to an eskimo. He had a passion for restoring vehicles, and had quite the talent for it – so much so that one of his automobiles is showcased at The Duplin Winery. Wilbert was a hardworking man, always dedicated to whatever he was working on – he put his heart and soul into it. He was also known for his dedication to the Republican Party and the Fox News channel continuously being watched at his house. He was a good man, loved his community and his family more than anything. He will be greatly missed.
Wilbert is survived by his loving wife, Geri of the home; his daughter, Judy B. Tew and husband, Glenn of Fayetteville; Son, Dennis Best and wife, Beverly of Clinton; seven grandchildren: Karen Crawford (Tony), Kelly Wright (Brandon), Kay Alford (Darren), Lesley Reeves (Byron), Karmen Best, Tim Naylor and JR Naylor. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, Wilbert is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Gail West; and his half-brothers, Larry and Johnny Best.
