Mrs. Wanda Hinson Carroll, 66, of 1081 Five Bridge Rd., passed away Thursday evening, December 29, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Hairr and Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday evening, from 6-8 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel; and other times at her home.
Born in November of 1956, Wanda was the daughter of the late Junior Hinson, Jr. and Sula Davis Hinson. She grew up in Sampson County with her brothers and sisters and graduated from Clinton High School. In 1975 she married the love of her life, Robert Carroll and they started their family, raising two beautiful daughters and had a wonderful life together. They loved fishing together, especially at Surf City, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy Max’s Pizza. Wanda was a teller at First Citizens Bank in Clinton and every time you walked into the bank, or drove up to the drive-thru window, you always knew you would get some type of encouragement – either by a warm smile, saying something to brighten your day, or a quick wave as you were driving through the line – you never left the bank without Wanda acknowledging you and making you feel special – because she was just that type of person. She was one of a kind. And will truly be missed.
She was a member of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, where she played the piano for over twenty years. Prior to that, she was a member of Brown’s Baptist Church where she also played piano for over twenty years. Piano playing was her passion, and she blessed many people over the years with her God-given talent. She has been asked to play for weddings, funerals, and revivals over the years and never once turned anyone down. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
Wanda leaves behind her husband, Robert of the home; her two daughters: Amanda Coursey and husband, Chris of Richlands; Jessica Crawford and husband, David of Benson; three grandchildren: Jordan and Noah Coursey and Addie Crawford; two brothers: Gary Hinson and wife, Donna of Porter’s Neck, Kim Hinson and wife, Roxanne of Clinton; two sisters: Anita Shipp of Clinton, Carol Horrell of Hampstead; several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Cindy Lou.
Royal-Hall is honored to serve the Carroll family.
