Vincent Burgess, III Obituary

Mr. Vincent O. “Vince” Burgess, III, 73, formerly of Clinton and Salemburg, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington surrounded by his family.

Graveside Service with VFW honors will be held on Sunday, January 10th at 2:00 pm at the Clinton Cemetery with Terry Lee officiating. Please follow all COVID guidelines. A walkthru viewing will be held on Saturday, January 9th from 5-7 pm at Royal-Hall Funeral Home. The family will not be present for the viewing.

Born on October 29, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama, Vince was the son of Vincent Oliver Burgess, Jr. and Bobbie Mouton . He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving his country in the Vietnam war on the USS Intrepid and the USS Northhampton. He was a proud lifetime member of VFW Post 7547 and a retired US Postal Carrier. He had a great personality and a smile that would light up a room. He loved his family more than anything, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Patsy Ann Lee Burgess of Wilmington; daughter, Lori Burgess Baker and husband, Rob, of Raleigh; son, Vincent O. Burgess, IV and wife, Ingrid of Wilmington; granddaughters: Olivia Bass of Raleigh and Anna Burgess (Chance Bryant) of Wilmington; grandsons: Gregg Bass of Raleigh, Ben Burgess of Wilmington and Caleb Baker of Memphis, TN; sisters: Joann Turner, Susan Guilliot and Raquel Mouton; brother, Russell Burgess; great-grandchildren: AvaRose and AbelLee Bass; brothers-in-law, Terry Lee of Salemburg and Billy Lee of Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanene B. Torkkola.
