Clinton
Mr. Sherwood Allen Fryar, age 86, of Clinton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family.
Sherwood was a lifelong farmer who found great joy in working the land and caring for those he loved. A man of humility, integrity, and strong work ethic, he lived a life grounded in faith, dedication, and devotion to family. He enjoyed all sports especially baseball and football, spending time outdoors, and took great pride in his farming equipment — especially his beloved John Deere tractors. Some of his happiest moments were spent riding through the country with his wife, enjoying the beauty of the fields and the simple blessings of life together.
Above all, Sherwood was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful friend. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patt Fryar, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He led his family by example, teaching honesty, perseverance, and kindness through the way he lived each day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline Fryar and James Fryar; his brother, Elton Fryar; and his sister, Elizabeth Blackburn.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patt Fryar; two daughters, Kim Stroud and husband Robert of Clinton, North Carolina, and Lynn Barksdale of Huntersville, North Carolina; one grandson, Grayson Stroud of Clinton; two granddaughters, Erin Richardson of Winston-Salem and Lauren Barksdale of Huntersville; sister, Margaret Batts and husband Bobby of Suffolk,VA; special nephew, Douglas Fryar, and three great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.
Sherwood will be remembered for his humble spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the legacy of hard work and kindness he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 16, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, and other times at the home.
