Mrs. Ruth Johnson Byrd, 84, passed away at her home on February 8th, 2025.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, February 17th, at 2:00 PM at Stedman Baptist Church, 7750 Clinton Rd, Stedman, NC 28391 with the Rev. Jimmy Atkinson officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
Born in 1940 in Sampson County, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late Dallas Carson and Pearl Eldridge Johnson. She was a retired Clerk with the Lockheed Martin and a member of Stedman Baptist Church. She also spent over 20 years as a Substitute Teacher for Cumberland County Schools. A beloved mother and a loyal friend who had a smile that would light up a room.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Byrd Gardner of Autryville; son, William Mitchell Byrd, and wife, Sylvia of Fayetteville; three grandchildren: Bryan Mitchell Byrd, Lauren Ashley Bergamine, and Victoria Carmen Pruitt; five great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Jim Kirkland of Lumberton.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Russell Aaron Gardner; three sisters, Evelyn Kirkland, Lucille Harden and Margaret Mills.
