Mr. Roy Franklin Fryar, 77, of 150 Hondros Rd., passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Services will be held Sunday, December 1 at 3:00, at Serenity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Carter and Rev. Jimmy Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born on July 2, 1947 in Sampson County , Roy was the son of the late Relma Elwood and Janie Irene Barefoot Fryar. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Fryar worked as an engineer technician at Purolator in Fayetteville for 39 years. He sang with the ViewMasters Quartet for over 30 years. Mr. Fryar loved his church, singing gospel music, and playing golf in his spare time. But most of all, he loved his family and friends.
Mr. Fryar is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Lockamy Fryar; daughter, Sharon O’Neal (Alan) of Clinton; 2 grandchildren; Kelsey Skiles (Shane), and Katelyn O’Neal, one great granddaughter, Baylor Skiles and many other special family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fryar was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Carolyn Soltow, Hilda Parker, Brenda Fryar and one brother; Thomas Elwood Fryar.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-3:00 in the Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home.
