Ross Dixon

December 5, 1995 ~ August 3, 2023 (age 27) 27 Years Old

Obituary

Jeffery “Ross” Dixon, 27, of Wilmington (formerly of Clinton), died at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 7th 2023 at 3pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny and Tena Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Springvale Section of the Clinton Cemetery.

Born on December 5, 1995 in Sampson County, Ross was the son to Lisa Andrews Dixon and the late Howard “Ricky” Dixon. He graduated from Clinton High School and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and “life” in general. He was always the “light” in the room and “life” of a party, just to have him in your presence made your day better. He was just that kind of guy.  His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, or going to the beach. Ross also loved listening to music, rather it be playing it at home, in his vehicle, or listening to a live band at a concert or local bar.  Ross has always been a hard worker. For the last few years, he’s worked at the Sawmill Restaurant in Wilmington, where his co-workers were more like his family. You could not ask for better co-workers and friends - Ross loved you!  For the past two years, Ross has been an advocate for sober living for the Oxford Houses in Wilmington, specifically dedicated to Oxford House Seahawk Square. His passion for the residents there was evident, and he was always there to help.  Ross had a heart of gold and left this world too soon. To know him, was to love him - and he will definitely be missed.

He is survived by his mom, Lisa Andrews Dixon (Jimmy Gainey) of Clinton; Sisters, Dana Dixon and Madison Dixon; Stepmom, Denise Sessoms; four stepsisters: Ashton Harrell, Naomi, Mamie and Aron Goodman; three aunts: Diane Andrews Faircloth, Teresa Brown and Tammy Odum; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Dixon; his paternal grandparents: Phil Dixon and Deloris Gautier and Graham Gautier; maternal grandparents: Sonny and Louise Beheler;  Sonny Andrews and his cousin, Ross Shaw. He was also preceded in death by his best friend, Ashleigh Reed Bowden.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Sean and Angie, of Sawmill Restaurant, for going above and beyond over the years for Ross. Your love and kindness for him never went unnoticed by his family. He loved you both and appreciated you more than you know.

Family will receive friends on Sunday evening, August 6th from 6-8 pm at Royal-Hall Funeral Home located at 301 McKoy Street, Clinton; and other times at his Mom’s home, located at 113-A, 4th Street, Clinton.
