Born on February 20, 1935 in Sampson County, Bobby was the son of the late Robert Fulton Butler, Sr. And Ann Couch Butler and a dedicated member of McGee United Methodist Church. He was also a lifelong member of Woodmen of the World and Gideons International. He was married to his sweetheart, Marie, for fifty-eight years and they lived a wonderful life together, raising three children and having been blessed with seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, whom he adored. Bobby enjoyed riding his golf cart and working in his yard. Many people would see him picking up pine cones on a daily basis, as he took pride in keeping his yard immaculate. Bobby was a character - always wearing his “Dickies” coveralls, along with having that mischievous grin, and never-ending wise-cracks. He had a contagious laugh and you just loved to be around him. Once you met Bobby, you had a friend for life. We’re sure gonna miss him.
Bobby leaves behind a daughter, Rose Butler Aman and husband, Terry of Dunn; two sons: Bruce Butler and wife, Wendy of Salemburg; Roger Butler and wife, Deseera of Clinton; sister, Becky Dold of Raleigh; seven grandchildren: Cody and Callie Aman; Cameron Smith, Brandon Butler, Andria Butler, Chassity Butler and Brantley Butler; and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Smith; sisters-in-law, Barbara Butler, Delores Quinn and Shelva Warren (Ronnie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Billy Butler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International; or to McGee United Methodist Church c/o Ozzie Newman, 151 High House Rd., Clinton, NC 28328.
