Retired Captain Landis E. Lee, 84, of 2883 Five Bridge Road, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Will Matthews, Rev. Tim Ameen, and Rev. Ricky Lee officiating. An Entombment with Sampson County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
Born in 1941, in Sampson County, Landis was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Benson Lee and the widower of his beloved bride, Sally Smith Lee. Landis was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and attended as his health permitted. He spent his entire career with the Sampson County Sheriff Department where he was a Detective and later became a Captain until his retirement.
Landis is survived by two sons: Scott Lee, and wife, Donna of Dunn and Ricky Landis Lee, and wife, Jackie of Dunn; one daughter, Kathy Henderson of Kennansville; two sisters: Donna Lee and Tammy Lee both of Dunn; five grandchildren: Ricky Lee Jr, Perry Lee, Rhiannon Preddy, Allison Lee and Dustin Henderson; nine great-grandchildren: Jacob Lee, Landyn Lee, Mariah Lee, Brantley Lee, Chyanne Lee, Dakota Henderson, Taylor Henderson, Malorie Henderson, and Josie Preddy; and many friends and extended family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Landis was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Williford; granddaughter, Katie Lee, and son-in-law, Dennis Henderson.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, and other times at his home.
