Mr. Hosea “Rayburn” McCullen, 83 of 3222 Hunter Rd., passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.

A Graveside service will be held Sunday, June 27 at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove with Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Cemetery.

Born on January 13, 1938 in Sampson County, Rayburn was the son of the late Hosea Emmett and Inez Boyette McCullen and the widower of Carletta Ann Crumpler McCullen.  After high school Rayburn joined the United States Army and later married the love of his life, Carletta Ann Crumpler. He was a member of Carr Memorial Christian Church of Clinton and spent many years with Parker Gas Company as a Service Technician until his retirement.

Rayburn is survived by three daughters: Anita M. Johns and husband, Tim, of Benson;  Heather M. Melton and husband, Dickie, of Roseboro; Leigh Ann McCullen and husband, Tom Kulp, of New York; one son, Jeremy McCullen and wife, Margie of Clinton;  grandchildren: Britt Sinclair (Jerri); Devan S. Wolfe (Christian); Sawyer Johns; Jared and Zane Melton; Bailey, Ian, Meghan and Brennan McCullen; Paige and Gabe Kulp; his sister, Marilyn Jackson of Goldsboro; and brother, Garrett McCullen of Newton Grove.

In addition to his parents and wife, Rayburn was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Miller.
