Ray Allen Cannon, Sr., 76 of 6141 Harrells Hwy., passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, November 15, at 2:00 PM at Grandview Memorial Park with Rev. Danny Johnson and Wayne Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends after the services at the cemetery.
Born in 1947 in New Hanover County, Ray was the son of the late Ray and Mary Peterson Cannon and the devoted husband to his dear wife, Ardith Cannon. Ray served his country in the United States Army National Guard and was a proud Veteran. He was a member of Center Baptist Church and attended as his health permitted. Ray spent many years alongside his wife as the operator of East Park Cinema until their retirement.
Ray is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Ardith Cannon of Clinton; son, Ray A. Cannon, Jr., and wife, Lisa of Clinton; four granddaughters: Kelsey Skiles and husband, Shane, Madison Cannon, Riley Cannon, and Regan Cannon; one great-granddaughter, Baylor Skiles, sister, Rosa Naylor of Garland; brother, Neil Cannon of Fayetteville, and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Brian Cannon, and two sisters: Annette West, and Joyce Long.
