Mrs. Penelope June Arven Costin, 72, of 307 Ridgeway St., passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 24 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Hairr and Rev. E.C. Mattocks officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Born on March 10, 1951, in New Hanover County, “Penny” was the daughter of the late Theodore and Wanda Carter Arven. She loved helping and caring for others, which led her to a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and loved her church family. To know “Penny” was to love her and she will be greatly missed.
“Penny” is survived by her husband, Michael Costin of the home; son, Chris Costin, and wife, Alicia of Clinton; sister, Bebe Williams, and husband, Don of Clinton; four grandchildren: Tucker Costin, Brianna Lindly, Aubrey McCaskill, and Halle McCaskill.
In addition to her parents, “Penny” was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Arven.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church beginning at 10:00 AM and other times at her home.
