Mrs. Peggy Newman Royal, 93, of 3303 Bass Lake Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 18, at 3:00 PM at Mintz Baptist Church, 3761 Old Mintz Church Road, with Dr. Robert Hunter and Dr. John McBride officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born on August 29, 1932, in Sampson County, Peggy was the daughter of the late Archie and Sarah “Sally” Parker Newman, and the widow of Roland Floyd Royal, Sr. Peggy taught Sunday School at Elizabeth Baptist Church for many years and later became a devoted member of Mintz Baptist Church. She worked at area sewing factories, Mohasco Furniture and retired from Artistic Weaving. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress and pattern maker, admired for her skill and creativity, and well known for her diamond art paintings. Peggy also loved motorcycles and horse back riding. To know Peggy was to know her beloved cat, Woody, who was always faithfully by her side.
Peggy is survived by three daughters: Pamela Royal Carter (Mike), Erica Royal Vandiford, and Edna Royal West Naylor, all of Clinton; two sons: Roland Floyd Royal, Jr. (Sue) and James Curtis Royal, both of Clinton; ten grandchildren: Ashley Michelle Royal Faircloth, Melissa Spaulding, Roland Guy Royal, Robert Brandon Royal, Joshua Adam Royal, Timothy Joseph West, William Michael Carter, Jr., Aaron Basil Carter, John Kevin Vandiford, and Travis Blanks; last but not least her 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roland, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers: Frances Newman, Donald Newman, and Max Newman.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of her daughter at 1696 Harmony Church Rd., Clinton, NC.
The family would like to thank 3HC Hospice for their care and support during this time.
