Patsy Gay Rouse

Patsy Gay Rouse, age 69, of Clinton, North Carolina went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 18, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patsy was born on April 4, 1953 to Eleanor and Billy Gay of Middlesex, North Carolina. While attending Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh, Patsy worked at an optometry office where she met and later married the love of her life, Gary Luke Rouse. They have three loving daughters. In 1987, their family moved to Clinton, and Patsy became an active member of her beloved community and church. She worked for 23 years at L.C. Kerr Elementary School. To all that knew her, Patsy was a gracious and humble lady whose life revolved around serving others.

Patsy is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Mr. Billy Wayne Gay, of Middlesex. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, and their daughters Jennifer Rouse Hill (Joshua) of Clinton, Jessica Rouse Martin (Luke) of Clinton and Jillian Rouse Richter (Robby) of Birmingham, Alabama. Patsy’s most joyous role was being Grandma to her 12 “grandbabies” - Garrison, Clara Glynn and Gibson Hill of Clinton, Sam, Livie, Betsy, Max and Charlotte Martin of Clinton, and Leah, Noah, Eli and Caleb Richter of Birmingham. She is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Hardison.

Patsy was known for her gentle and kind spirit, her love for her family and friends and her good home-cooked meals. She battled cancer with strength and dignity for 6 ½ years, and won her fight by achieving eternal rest in heaven with her Savior.   

A funeral will be held to celebrate the life of Patsy on December 21, 2022 at 2 pm at Grove Park Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Clinton Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service, from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm, in the sanctuary of the church; and other times at their home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patsy’s memory to the FWB Children’s Home in Middlesex.
