Mrs. Patricia Anne Moore Lewis, 94, of Faison, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at her home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at 2:00 PM at the Faison Cemetery with Rev. Heather Wong officiating.
Born on April 9, 1931, in Sampson County, Anne was the daughter of John Cleburne and Margaret Elizabeth Pridgen Moore, and the beloved wife of the late William Douglas “Bill” Lewis, Sr.
After graduating from high school, Anne attended Meredith College and later completed her degree at East Carolina Teacher’s College. She began her career as an extension agent for Wilson and Sampson Counties before teaching home economics at North Duplin High School.
While she valued her work in education and community service, Anne found her greatest joy and fulfillment in caring for her home, her family, and her community. Her legacy is one of devotion, service, and love.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Carol Poortvliet (Ken) of Faison; son, Doug Lewis of Faison; daughter-in-law, Kelly Lewis of Holly Springs; six grandchildren: Olivia Lake Stocks (Byrne), Will Lewis, Maggie Lewis, Jacob Lewis, Elizabeth Poortvliet, Emily Poortvliet; and two great-grandchildren: Laythan and Gracie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her son, John Moore Lewis.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all of the wonderful caregivers that have been with us over the past two years as well as the Gentiva Hospice nurses who helped make her transition peaceful and pain free.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at her home, 1161 Margaret Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faison Fire Department, 108 SW Center St., Faison, NC 28341.
