Mrs.Pamela Jackson Matthis, 70, of 1330 Edmond Matthis Rd, passed away on Sunday evening, August 6, 2023, with her loving family by her side.
Born on January 8, 1953, Pam was the daughter of the late Charlie and Bessie Weeks Jackson. After graduating high school, she was a dance teacher, then fell in love with farming alongside her husband. They raised two beautiful daughters, all while working hard on the farm. Each day revolved around her family and working and doing for others. Pam was very hardworking and when she wasn’t at home or on the farm, you could find her at the beach. In her later years, every single day revolved around her grandkids - they were her whole world, and she was theirs.
Pam was the type of woman that as soon as you met her, you instantly loved her and felt like you had a friend for life. You always knew that she would “give it to you straight”, and no matter what time of day or night, you could call her for advice or just to talk, and she would be the friend you could count on. To know Pam, was to love her - and she will definitely be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Matthis; two daughters: Amy Matthis (Joan); Mary Ann Jackson (Andy); two grandchildren: Parker Jackson and Wiley Jackson; sister, Marie Pope and brother, Dwight Jackson, all of Clinton; and special friends, Katie Sprague and Matt George.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two of her sisters: Linda McLamb and Marsha Powell and one brother, Charles Jackson.
Pam did not want to have a “formal” funeral service; however, the family would like to receive friends at the home on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, August 8-9, 2023.
They also ask that in lieu of flowers, please send memorials to: Mintz Christian Academy by mail: MCA, 2741 Mintz Rd, Roseboro, NC 28382.
Royal-Hall is honored to serve the Matthis family.
