Ms. Nelda Faye Stafford, 85 of 120 Colonial Drive, passed away Sunday, January 28th at High Smith Rainey Hospital with her family by her side. Born in 1938 in Chatham County, Nelda was the daughter of the late Ozzie and Mary Oakley Chambers and was the wife of the late Melvin Gray Stafford, and a retired US Postal worker.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 31, at 3:00 PM at Clinton Cemetery officiated by Pastors Phil and Fay Bowden. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2 until 2:45 at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of her son, Kenny at 120 Colonial Drive, Clinton, NC.
She is survived by two sons: Kenny Stafford and wife, Kay, of Clinton and Ricky Stafford of Clinton; one grandson, Brent Stafford and wife Kristin; two great-grandchildren: Caroline and Brooks Stafford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Melvin Stafford; four brothers Tony, Travis, Edgar, and Leonard Chambers and three sisters: Lila Creech, Shirley Compton, and Audrey Wright. She was known for her love of the Lord, her family, and friends.
