Mrs. Ruth Kelly Lockamy Maxwell, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Goldsboro on November 1, 2022.
Ruth,born on January 8, 1926, was the daughter of the late Jim and Lillian Morgan Kelly She was predeceased by her husbands Thomas Burbank Lockamy and Charles L. Maxwell. In addition, she was predeceased by sisters, Carrie Oates, Annie Laurie Kelly, Lillian Swinson and Virginia Bluestein and brothers, James Robert (Buddy) Kelly, Dave Kelly, Ed Kelly, Perry Kelly, Albert Kelly, Henry Kelly and Lawrence Butler.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Lockamy Betters of Garner and a son, Thomas B. Lockamy,Jr. of Goldsboro; her three grandchildren, Bill Betters, Patrick (Robin) Betters and Thomas (Sara) Betters and three great-grandchildten: Nicolas, Olivia and Banks as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth lived a happy and long life. Her favorite time was when she was cooking for her family on special occasions and holidays. She was also the proud owner of the restaurant, Country Kitchen in Keener.
A special thanks to Jim Stroud for his love and care of Ruth during her illness. Also, thanks to Susan Pearsall who was her faithful caregiver and who was always there.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, November, 3, 2022 at 11 am at Keener United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Mizell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, in the church fellowship hall.
