Mrs. Janet Powell Bradshaw-King, 85, passed away peacefully Friday, February 18, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 22, at 1:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Park with Rev. LeAnne Calhoun officiating.
Born in 1937 in Sampson County, Janet was the daughter of the late Willie Haywood and Virginia Ray King Powell and the widow of her first husband, Weldon Bryant Bradshaw, and her second husband, Thomas Devone King. Janet was an active member of Keener United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was the pianist and organist, and was active in the UMW. She loved her church family as her own. Janet touched the lives of many children in her 36 years of teaching at Halls Piney Grove and Hargrove Elementary schools. Janet was a true southern lady who loved working in her yards and growing beautiful roses. Roses were her pride and joy and she enjoyed sharing them with others. In her later years, she found much pleasure traveling extensively. To know her was to love her and she will be truly missed.
She is survived by two daughters: Martha Ray Bradshaw of Clinton, and Marcia Bradshaw Shaw and husband David of Apex; three grandchildren: Sarah Kathryn Lee and fiancé Donnie Maas, Janna Shaw, and Carlee Shaw; stepdaughter, Julie King Bartlett and husband Roger; sister, Hilda Farmer of Goldsboro. Additionally, she is survived by her devoted caregivers, Janet Johnson of Harrells, and Juliette Graham of Clinton.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Janet was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Bradshaw Lee; stepsister, Nan Casey Smith and stepdaughter, Jennifer King.
The family will receive friends at her home and following the graveside service at Grandview Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keener United Methodist Church, c/o Ann Hobbs, 4750 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC.
