Mrs. Ethel Jane Fann Thornton 90, of 3486 Hobbton Hwy. died at Mary Gran Nursing Center Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove.
Born on June 11, 1931, in Sampson County, Mrs. Thornton was the daughter of the late M.B and Maude Phillips Fann. She was a member of Roseboro Church of God of Prophecy and a homemaker. She was the widow of Earl Junior Thornton and enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren and being a caretaker to those in need. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Simmons and husband, Keith of Clinton. Three sons, Roger Dale and wife, Ilene Thornton of Clinton, Jessie Samuel Thornton of Clinton and Ricky Don and wife, Linda of Teachy. Nine grandchildren, Nine great-grandchildren. In addtion to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jane Thornton.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home on Wednesday, and at other times at the home of her son, Dale, at 305 Carolina Ave., Clinton.
