Ralph Leroy “Ben” Leonard, Jr. 76, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Ben was born on April 19, 1947 in Palmyra, Pennsylvania to Ralph Leroy Leonard, Sr. (Ben) and Dorothy Frederick Leonard. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1965, proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and attended and graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Ben returned to Sampson County and became a farmer, raising turkeys, pigs, and crops for more than 45 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Howard, and they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Ben, Sr. and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, their two daughters, Laura Leonard Goodman and Jennifer Leonard Allen, and three grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Allen, Jana Grace Goodman and Xavier Alexander Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Salemburg Baptist Church at 11:00 a,m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 with Rev. Drew Bolin officiating. There will be a reception at the Salemburg Baptist Church Family Life Center where the family will receive visitors following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Roseboro Rescue Squad and EMS, 400 E. Howard St, Roseboro, NC 28382.
