Mr. Joshua Emile Blier, 89, (formerly of Faison), passed away March 2, 2022 at his home in Yanceyville with his daughter by his side.
Born on July 21, 1932 in Mexico, Maine, Joshua was the son of the late Emile and Josephine Peters Blier. He spent twenty years in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he settled in Sampson County with his family and joined the maintenance team at Sampson Regional Hospital until retiring a second time. Joshua was a hard working man, and also enjoyed gardening spending time with his cats and dogs. Most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Joshua was predeceased by his wife, Rosa Hunter Blier; son Timothy and several of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ellen Blier Parker and husband, Gary of Yanceyville; daughter, Linda (Scott); Grandchildren: Jeremy Tart (Lisa) of Charlotte; Bradley Blier (Kyla) of Clinton; Stacy Thornton (Brian) of Japan; two brothers, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. And, also - not to be left out, his beloved black lab, “Blackie” that stayed by his side throughout his final days.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating.
