Mr. Delton Earl Shirley

Mr. Delton Earl Shirley died peacefully, surrounded by family on 26 March 2021 in Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 80.

Delton Shirley is survived by his devoted wife of 15+ years, Sydni Lyn Shirley, of Fayetteville, NC, his three daughters Patsy Cuthbert (Henry) of Monahans, Texas, Pam Morgan (Gary) Poolville, Texas, Cindy Christopher (Roy) of Monohans, Texas and his stepsons John Thompson (Holly) of Fayetteville, NC, Chris Thompson (Danyel) of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Edward Thompson and Fayetteville, NC. Delton is also survived by his grandchildren Tristan, Chase, Cody, Tory, Sterling, Cade, Emily and Steven.

He is preceded in death by his father OB Shirley, his mother Oleda Shirley (Plumlee), his first wife Lucy Jennette (Hamilton) and his two brothers Adrian and Billy.

Delton Earl Shirley was born on 19 July 1940 in Cisco, Texas to OB and Oleda Shirley. Delton married his sweetheart Lucy right out of high school. Delton worked in the oil fields, traveled overseas and eventually owned his own business, Well Testing, to make enough money to support his family and his adventurous lifestyle. Delton was competitive when it came to anything that went fast. From his guns and motorcycles to his airplanes, he had the need for speed. After his wife Lucy lost her fight to cancer in 2003, Delton sold everything and retired. Delton married his devoted wife Sydni Shirley in 2005 in Midland, Texas and they moved to Fayetteville, NC in 2016 to be closer to family. A funeral was scheduled for 11:00am 10 April 2021 at Freedom Biker Church 455 Rockhill Road Fayetteville, NC and a second service will be held in Midland Texas on Saturday, April 17, 2021.  Donations can be made to The Hospice Foundation of Hoke County, PO Box 1584 Raeford, NC 28376
