Mr. Calvin Carl Deans, Jr., 78, of 501 Carolina Avenue, passed away early Friday morning, July 1, 2022 with his family by his side.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Ammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born on January 9, 1944 in Johnston County, Calvin was the son of Calvin Carl Deans, Sr. and Bertha Harper Deans. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a graduate of Selma High School, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a diehard Tarheels fan and loved to watch all UNC sports.  He also enjoyed following Clinton High School band and Darkhorse football.  Calvin began his career as Personnel Manager in Hamlet, NC with Klopman Mills.  In 1977, he moved to Clinton to work as Personnel Manager at Beaunit.  He continued his career as Human Resources Manager at several area companies until his retirement in 2014.  He enjoyed working outside in his yard and gardening.  He also enjoyed surf fishing and pier fishing while spending time with his family at the beach.  Calvin will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, because to know him was to love him

Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Katie Smith Deans of the home; daughter, Jennifer D. Lewis and husband, Rocky of Southport; sons: Calvin Carl Deans, III of Hampstead and Scott Alan Deans of Portland, Oregon. He was also blessed with three grandchildren, whom he adored: Cole, Paige and Claire Lewis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Frances D. Morgan and Marie D. Pearce and brother, Robert Turner Deans.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church; and other times at his home.
