Born on April 15, 1929 in Sampson County, Mr. Moore was the son of the late John Moore and Annie Laura Dyson Moore. He grew up in Ivanhoe and was a farmer all his life. In the early years he farmed tobacco and later cropped corn and soybeans. If you couldn’t find him in the filed on his John Deere tractor, then he was hauling dirt in his dumptruck. He enjoyed his work and was a hard-working man his whole life. He loved his family and his community and would help anyone who needed it. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Geneva Dixon Moore; son, Andy Moore and wife, Jennifer Biggs of Ivanhoe; daughter, Kimberly Ann Hamilton of Leland; six grandchildren: Jacob Andrew Moore, Jayna Elaine Biggs, Alex Beavers, Drew Beavers, Luke Hamilton and Gabriel Hamilton; three sisters: Annette Matthis, Emily Harrell and husband, David and Mirlyn Salmon and husband, Bobby and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Moore.
