Melinda Causey "Linda" Peterson, 81 of Holly Ridge, NC, took her journey to be with Jesus, Wednesday, September 15, 2021. She was home, surrounded by her family.
Melinda was born to parents Thorbon and Ethel Causey, August 20, 1940 in Conway, SC. As a child, basketball was her passion. She walked many miles to play the game. Another joy she had was making bows. As a mother of five, Melinda knew what hard work was. She pushed to complete her education and became a head coordinator for Social Services with the Head Start Program. One way to describe Melinda was "big heart". Nothing was too big or too small when someone called on her for help. There was a sweet, calming spirit about her that everyone noticed. She was dedicated to David, her husband of 49+ years and loved her children unconditionally. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her - because to know her, was to love her.
Melinda is survived by her husband, David Peterson of Holly Ridge; two sons: Franklin Harris and wife Brenda of Clinton, NC, William T. Harris of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Linda "Pumpkin" Wiggins and husband Dale of Surf City, NC, Cynthia Hall and husband Buster of Roseboro, NC; brother, Charles Causey and wife Cindy of Longs, SC; two sisters: Brenda Murray of Little River, SC and Vivian Skipper and husband Billy of Conway, SC; brother-in-law, Joey Murray of Long Island, NY; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; Tammy Bond, whom she loved like a daughter and Richard Crumpler, whom she loved like a son.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Aaron Chesley Harris, Durwood Ottis Peterson; a brother, JT Causey, two of her sisters, Louminia Floyd and Pat Toms.
Funeral Services will be held at McGee’s United Methodist Church, 1100 McGee Church Rd., Clinton, on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm at with Rev. Stephen Dupree officiating.
