Maria Waters Minchew

Christin “Maria” Waters Minchew, 52, of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 6-8 pm at the home of Nelson and Carolyn Waters, located at 107 Deer Run Trail, Clinton.  A private Graveside Service will be held on Sunday afternoon.   

Maria was born on September 10, 1969 in Wake County to William Nelson and Carolyn Raynor Waters. She graduated from Harrells Christian Academy and earned degrees at Peace College, Mount Olive College and North Carolina State University.  She was a former Human Resources Director.   She was very involved with her children, who were the loves of her life. Whether it be pertaining to school, activities or sports, she was their biggest fan. She loved her Yorkie, “Jingle” and her Boykin-Spaniel, “Finley”.  Maria had many friends and anyone who knew her, loved her dearly.  She left this world too soon, and will be greatly missed by her family, especially her sons and daughter.

Maria is survived by her parents, Nelson and Carolyn Waters of Clinton; her daughter, Jane Caroline Waters Minchew; her sons: Kendrick Stephen Minchew and William Todd Minchew; brothers: William Nelson Waters, III and Stephen Wright Waters; and paternal grandmother, Marie B. Waters of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hosea Raynor of Newton Grove and her paternal grandfather, Mr. Bill Waters of Clinton.
