Mrs. Lizzie Margaret Butler Peterson, 91, of 170 Kay Rd., passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Mary Gran Nursing Center.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 2:00 PM at Carr Memorial Christian Church with Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in 1933 in Sampson County, Lizzie was the daughter of the late Robert Lawrence and Susan Jane Weeks Butler and the widow of the late Haywood Claxton “Bizzel” Peterson. She was a homemaker. Lizzie was a member of Carr Memorial Christian Church and attended as her health permitted.

Lizzie is survived by her daughter, Gloria Peterson of the home; her brother, Frank Butler of Clinton; and grandson, Lee Sexton.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Haywood, Lizzie was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Sexton; sister, Janie Kate Peterson; and brother, Arthur B. Butler.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church fellowship hall beginning at 1:00 PM and other times at her home.
