Lisa Johnson Obituary

Eastover

Lisa Motes Johnson, 62, of 3856 Final Approach Drive, passed away November November 30, 2022 at her home with her loving husband by her side.

Born on August 23, 1960 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Lisa was the daughter of the late Roy Edward and Lela Odom Motes. She was raised in the Belle Glade Florida area, enjoying the expansive nature of the area with family, and friends of her youth. She also spent her summers in the mountains of North Carolina with now, lifelong friends.

Lisa graduated from Midlands Technical Community College in 1981 with a degree in Dental Hygiene, working for several dentists over fifteen years while moving with her husband. To achieve her career goal of teaching dental hygiene, Lisa earned a BS in Health Occupations Teacher Education Degree in 1997 from North Carolina State University, then served as a Dental Hygiene Instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College for twenty years, teaching and counseling hundreds of Hygienists and Assistant students.

Lisa met and later married her husband, Jonathan Johnson, in Augusta, Georgia in 1983.  They enjoyed a loving and sharing marriage of almost forty years.  Her passion for riding and training horses achieved AQHA Amateur Congress Championship Level exhibition competition and awards.  Simply said, she loved horses and enjoyed time with fellow equestrians, be it formal competition, or riding a pasture with dear friends.  Another favorite interest included tailgating, attending NCSU football games with her close nephews, Will and Daniel, family and friends.  She was a fierce supporter of  “her Wolfpack”.

As a lifelong Christian, and member of Salem United Methodist Church of Eastover, Lisa enjoyed teaching Sunday School and other groups, serving on various committees, food pantry work and fund-raising events.  First, last and always - Lisa was a servant of God, a loving wife, devoted to her family and friends, and a remarkable student-friendly teacher of many diverse subjects.  She will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate to know her. Because to know Lisa, was to love her.

Lisa leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Jonathan Johnson; sister, Donna Motes Mack and husband, Wayne of Venice, Florida; nephews: Will Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Garold “Ed” Motes, Jr.; nieces: Amie S. Motes, Kate Gibson and Lydia Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Garold Edward Motes.
