Linda Rich Williams of Clinton, passed away on May 1, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on February 22, 1940, to Thomas Menta (Pete) Rich and Eva Dudley Rich Peterson in Clinton, NC where she remained a lifelong resident.
Linda was a graduate of Clinton High School and Salem College. She went on to teach elementary students at Union Elementary for a number of years. Many of her students remember her fondly to this day. Linda instilled a love for learning and reading in her students and remained an avid reader throughout her life when her health permitted.
Among Linda’s accomplishments, Linda prided herself deeply in being a loyal and dedicated wife to her husband, George, of 49 years. Linda enjoyed cheering her husband on at countless out-of-town golf tournaments or from their porch that faced the golf course of Coharie Country Club.
Linda will be remembered by some as “the life of the party”. Whether she and her husband were occupying the dance floor, or entertaining in their home, she knew how to have a good time. Later in life, Linda enjoyed entertaining by hosting countless sleepovers for her beloved granddaughter and her granddaughter’s friends.
Linda was a woman of Christian faith. She was a lifetime member of First Methodist Church in Clinton and was active in the Circle Fellowship Group. Linda will be missed greatly by her family, and her caregivers who became her family during the most recent years of her life.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband George T. Williams, her mother and father, her brothers Pete Rich Jr, and James Macon Peterson, and her stepfather John T. Peterson.
She is survived by her daughter Venetia Mann and her husband Craig Mann, granddaughter Eva Barlowe, son George T. (Chip) Williams, Jr., her sister Jonsie Houseman and her husband Mike Houseman, and her nieces Jodie Rich, and Laura Rich.
The family would like to express our thanks to Linda’s wonderful caregivers. Both Linda and George were able to live out their final days comfortably in their home just as they wished. This would not have been possible without the love, support, and dedication of their caregivers and 3HC Hospice.
Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church at 208 Sampson Street, Clinton, North Carolina, or to a charity of your choice.
A service celebrating her life will be held Monday, May 6, at 2:00 PM at First Methodist Church, 208 Sampson St., with Rev. Matt Seals officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams plot at the Clinton Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery and other times at the home.
Royal-Hall is honored to serve the Williams Family.
