Larry “Thomas” Gautier, Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Sampson County, Thomas was the son of the late Dewey and Katheleen Turner Gautier. He was raised on a farm and worked hard his entire life. He was a retired truck driver, driving for Tart’s Trucking Co.. He had a passion for gardening, and a knack for growing any type of flower. He enjoyed putting out hummingbird feeders and would sit and watch them all the time. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by everyone.
He is survived by two daughters: Teresa Cooper of Dunn, Tammy Akers and husband, David of Dunn; three sons: Larry Thomas Gautier, II and wife, Debbie of Clinton, Thomas Lee Gautier of Kinston, and James Thomas Gautier of Kinston; a brother, Johnny Gautier, two sisters: Ann Jacobs and husband, Billy, and Bessie Starling; godson, Nathan "little buddy" Hill, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Gautier, and his sister, Susie Gautier.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 am, at the Clinton Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be held immediately following at the cemetery.
