Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, June 9 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeffery Barber officiating.
Larry was the son of the late Norman Taft Wiggins and Pauline Brock Wiggins. Larry was born and raised in Clinton, NC and after serving two years in Germany with the US Army, he returned home where he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Bland. They made their home and raised their daughters on the Bland homeplace in the Taylors Bridge community. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and served as a volunteer firefighter with the Taylor’s Bridge Fire Dept for many years. For 58 years, Larry worked at and later owned, Model Barber Shop where he enjoyed relationships with generations of loyal customers and knew almost everything going on in town. He loved his family more than anything and especially enjoyed spending time with them at their vacation home at Holden Beach. Days of fishing and riding the golf cart with his grandchildren were precious to him. His patience and love of piddling were well known and he was an original DIY person who never backed down from a challenge.
