Kenneth Carl Harrell, born January 16, 1947 and raised in Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Clinton Cemetery on May 18 at 2 PM.
Ken devoted his life to serving both his country and his family. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and commitment to his nation. Following his military service, Ken continued to exemplify selflessness through his unwavering care and devotion to his parents.
Ken will be remembered not only for his service, but also for his warm spirit and sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and sharing laughter with friends and family, bringing joy to those around him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who were involved in Ken’s care, especially Hilda Moore of Country Living Estates and Andrew Dickerhoff, for their kindness and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Leroy Harrell and Beatrice Alexander Harrell, his sister, Anne H. Izard and brother William J. Harrell. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sara Rivenbark Harrell of Matthews, NC; his brother-in-law, Dr. Ernest P. Izard Jr, of Longview, Tx; his nephew, Jeff Harrell and wife Erica of Seattle, WA; his niece, Debbe Hendrix and husband Matt (Taylor & Ethan) of Matthews, NC; nephew, Brian Izard and wife Heidi (Tyler & Ashley) of Northville, MI; and niece Sarah Moreno and husband Carlos (Christopher, Michael & Ana) of Cypress, TX.
