Newton Grove
Mr. Johnny Patrick Millen, 81, of Newton Grove, passed away at SECU Hospice House of UNC Johnston of Smithfield on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Calypso Cemetery in Calypso, NC, on Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating.
Born in 1944 in Wayne County, Johnny was the son of the late Ira Herman and Sarah Etta Hall Millen. Johnny served with pride in the United States Army as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War. He was a retired contractor. His retirement years were spent raising horses, donkeys, goats, cows, chickens, and guineas. He was also a North Carolina certified bee keeper. He attended Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Johnny is survived by his fiancee, Beth King of Faison; two daughters: Etta R. Millen of Savannah, GA and Sarah A. Millen of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; one son, Britain A. Millen of Savannah GA; and grandchildren: Natally Monzon, Jose Monzon, Sandra Monzon, Lara Millen, Gianni Millen, Victoria Fry and Michael Stephens, and one great-grandchild, Violet Monzon and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by sisters: Grace Jordan, Nina Barber and Dorothy Magdalene Millen Waters; brothers: Tommy Millen, Joseph Millen, Raeford Millen, Sterling Millen, and Howard Millen; half-sister, Elizabeth Millen Gurley; and half-brothers, Ed Millen and Norman Millen.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield for the compassionate care and love that was afforded to Johnny.
