Mr. Jimmy Edward Kersey, 83, of 539 Goshen Church Road, formerly of Clinton, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 2:00 PM at The Vine Fellowship, 1719 Southeast Blvd, Clinton with Rev. Matthew Barefoot and Rev. Raeford Carter officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
Born on February 12, 1943, in Wake County, Jimmy was the son of the late James Edward and Janie Lee Matthis Kersey. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp where he served as a Staff Sargeant (Scout/Sniper) in the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for deer hunting.
He was co-owner of Nutread, Inc., in Garland and founding owner and operator of the original Lean Bodz Gym in Clinton. He retired from USDA as a supervisor with Premium Standard Farms.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Stallings Kersey; two daughters: Sonya Lee Kersey of Wilson and Christal Kersey Honeycutt (Michael) of West End; two step daughters: Brooke Blackmon (Roland) of Faison and Dana Cain (Adam) of Fletcher; five grandchildren: Michael Tyler Honeycutt (Aashna), Kristen Gurgone (Seth), Katherine Matthis (Chasen), Justin Honeycutt, Johnathon Blackmon (Lauren Naylor) and two great-grandchildren: Thomas Matthis and Rhett Gurgone.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a brother, Belvin Kersey.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00, and other times at his home.
The family would like to thank 3HC Hospice, Southeastern Oncology and the Transfusion Center of Sampson Regional Medical Center for their loving care and support during this time.
