Jerry Hatch Obituary

Clinton

Jerry Wyche Hatch, 81, died peacefully on September 8, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Ammons and Rev. Charles Allard officiating. Burial will be held privately in the Clinton Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday evening, September 10th from 6-8 pm in the church sanctuary of First Baptist Church, and other times at his home.

Born on December 29, 1940 in Sampson County, Jerry was the son to the late Ira Wyche Hatch and Leaster Jackson Hatch. He attended Piney Grove Elementary School and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. He always considered his graduating class to be the best class of all. He was an insurance agent for Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company, and also assisted at Royal Hall Funeral Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as caretaker for thirty years. He also served as a Sunday School member, deacon, and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Operation Inasmuch, and the Soup Kitchen.  He was a member and past president of Clinton Lions Club, and enjoyed selling tickets for the biannual fish fries. Jerry served as a member of Gideons International, and loved sharing God’s Word with others. He loved telling everyone “Jesus is my very best friend” and refused to allow his physical handicap to hinder his wonderful, beautiful spirit and attitude.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty-two years, Jean Blinson Hatch of the home; two daughters: Camille H. Frederick and husband, Steve, of Goldsboro; Casey H. Carson and husband, Daniel, of Clayton; sister, Sue H. Smith and husband, Ronny, of Clinton; two brothers: Johnny Hatch and wife, Kay, of Four Oaks and Jim Hatch and wife, June, of Leland; and a sister-in-law, Linda Hatch of Clinton.  He was also blessed with ten grandchildren: Dellaney, Blinson, Jo Claire, Hadley, Leah Gray, Georgia Lynn, and Zeb Frederick; and Sydney (fiance, Michael Johnson), Summer, and Savannah Carson.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Hatch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or to Gideons International.
