Jeffrey Wayne Laughinghouse

Jeffrey Wayne Laughinghouse, age 67, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1958, and spent most of his life in Clinton, North Carolina, later residing in Leland, NC.

Known to many by the nickname “Fro,” Jeffrey was a familiar and friendly face to those who knew him. He worked at Seven Gables Skating Rink, where his love for roller skating shined.  He was especially skilled and enjoyed every moment he was able to skate and help others have fun at the rink. Over the years, he also worked as a carpenter’s assistant and worked cutting grass alongside his father.

Jeffrey found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He spent countless hours fishing in the pond behind his home in Clinton.  He loved playing his music loudly through his speakers, and a Mountain Dew was rarely far from his side. He had a love for games and fun, especially playing cards around the table with family and friends. Phase 10 was his favorite, and he was an avid bingo player. Jeffrey also enjoyed getting out and socializing, particularly attending dances at the Moose Lodge, where he could enjoy music, dancing and good company.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, retired NC Highway Patrolman John W. Laughinghouse. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Sandra Laughinghouse, whom he lived with and who cared for him throughout his life. He is also survived by his sister, Sherri Matthis and her husband Dwight; his nieces, Lea Brown and her husband Phillip, Emily Gore and her husband Brian; and his great-nephews Andrew, Carter and Cole, and great-niece Zoe.

Jeffrey’s life was marked by laughter, jokes, and the love of his family. Those who knew him will remember his joy in the things he loved, and the many memories shared along the way.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 27, at 2:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, 301 McKoy St., Clinton, NC., with Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan officiating. An Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00PM.
