Mr. James Earl “Jimmy” Phillips, 80, of Keener Rd, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 16 at 1:00 PM at Grandview Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Shook officiating. A walk thru viewing will be held Monday, February 15 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
Born on June 16, 1940 in Sampson County, Jimmy was the son of the late Jefferson Leo and Pauline Jones Phillips. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and Veteran with the U.S. Air Force after fifteen years of service. He then retired with the US Postal Service after thirty-five years of service. Jimmy was a good-hearted man, had a heart of gold and loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Phillips of the home; three sons: Robert P. Phillips, Wayne Phillips and wife, Shelby and Christopher Phillips all of Clinton; stepdaughter, Joy Peedin of Clinton; Stepson, Lamar Heath of Clinton; and one sister, Clyde Phillips of Clinton. He was also blessed with four grandchildren: Robert E. Phillips, Thomas Wayne Phillips, James Dylan Phillips; Angel B. Crumpler; seven great-grandchildren: Addison Crumpler, Kinsley Crumpler, Emily Phillips, Gabriella Phillips, Tristan Phillips, James Phillips and Owen Phillips; four step granddaughters: Chasity Heath, Raven Heath, Anna Peedin and Olivia Peedin.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife, Josie Ann Phillips and two sisters: Willadean Honrine and Sybil Braswell.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
