Mr. James “Ellie” Kersey, 71, of Tall Pines Street, passed away Saturday evening, July 10, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Lake Church, 1930 White Lake Dr., White Lake, with Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. Burial will follow in the Rowan Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton.
Born on January 10, 1950 in Sampson County, Ellie was the son of the late John C. and Rachel Robinson Kersey. He was a retired TV repairman and a member of White Lake Church. He had a passion for airplanes and loved flying his plane. He loved socializing and talking to his friends, never meeting a stranger – because after only a few minutes with him, you felt like you’d known him all your life. Ellie loved his little four-legged companion, Lillie, and has been lost without her since she died a few years ago. We like to think they’re reunited now in heaven. He was a good man, with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by sister, Kay Holmes and husband, Tony of Benson; brother, Richard Kersey of Clinton; nieces and nephews: Randy Kersey (girlfriend, Shannon), Blake Holmes (girlfriend, Brittany), Salmon Holmes, Kayla Lee and husband, Jonathan and Scottie Holmes and wife, Kristen; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gail Kersey; three brothers: Gray Travis Kersey, Calvin Kersey and William Mack Kersey and sister-in-law, Annette Kersey.
Royal-Hall is honored to serve the Kersey Family.
