Iolita "Lita" Shepard Whitley, 54 died at SECU Hospice of Smithfield on Saturday February 11, 2023.

 A Memorial Service will be held at  1:00 PM Saturday February 18, 2023 at Royal Hall Funeral Home Chapel.

Born on July 8, 1968 in Pineville, Ky. Iolita was the daughter of the late Edgar Simpson and Edith Hunter Simpson and the youngest of ten children. She was an employee with the Sampson County Schools as a child Nutritionist. She was an excellent cook and loved to go shopping.  Iolita had a great personality and her smile lit up the room. More than anything, she loved her family.  She will be greatly missed by her husband, Scott, her children, siblings and friends.  

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Scott" Whitley of the home; Sons, Dallas Vance Shepard, III of Rocky Point and Keaton Lee Shepard of the home; stepdaughter, Sabrena Rae Whitley and stepson: Logan Scott Whitley of the home; and Richard Scott Whitley, II of Wilmington. She also leaves behind three sisters, six brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends following the service in the funeral home chapel.
