Glenn Robert Bass, Sr., 71 of 194 Ely Lane passed away Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 13th, at 2:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Bennett officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Beulah Church Cemetery.
Born on July 19, 1950, in Sampson County, Glenn was the son of the late Roscoe Almond Bass, Sr. and Mamie Lee Haney. Glenn had a passion for his country where he served as a Vietnam Veteran, former Commander of the American Legion Post 22, a lifetime member of VFW post 7547, and a member and former Commander of the Veterans Council. He was a member of New Freedom FW Baptist Church and the Warehouse Manager for Pelican Building Center until his retirement. Glenn was well-known in the community and around the town of Clinton. He was a good-hearted man, dedicated to his family. He was a proud American and man of God, and would tell anyone who would listen. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Because to know him, was to love him.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Hazel Davis Bass of the home, three daughters: Carolyn Bass “his girl” of the home, Amanda B. DeBusk and husband, Taylor of Arizona; Robin B. Hultman and husband, Todd of Indiana; four sons: Glenn Bass, II of Wendell, Dennis Rice of Texas, Jonathan Rice and James Rice, both of Fayetteville; three sisters: Elizabeth Brown of Dunn, Catherine Corbett of Clinton, Rosie Carter of Clinton. He was also blessed with fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by four brothers: Carl Haney, Alfred Haney, Roscoe Bass, Jr. and Rubin Bass.
Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the beginning of the service at the funeral home, beginning at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff of Community Hospice of Clinton, especially Carol Aman, who became like family instantly. Glenn was blessed with great caregivers during his illness and the family thanks you all for your support, care and love throughout his care.
