Mrs. Geraldine Smith Krivoniak, 91, of Southport, formally of Clinton, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center of Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at First Methodist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Matt Seals officiating. A private committal will be held on Friday, January 30, at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 PM in the church fellowship hall.
Born on December 11, 1934, in Pennsylvania, Gerry was the daughter of the late Steve and Margaret D. Smith and was the widow of Joseph Andrew Krivoniak. Gerry was a long-time volunteer with Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital Auxilary. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, shopping, and watching her beloved Steelers. She and Joseph traveled extensively throughout the United States in their RV. But the joy of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she often bragged about.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Krivoniak Baxter and (John) of Oak Island, NC.; son, Joseph Andrew Krivoniak, Jr., of Coal Center, PA.; two grandchildren: Kimberly Ayres (Caleb) of Indian Trail, NC and Tyler Baxter and (Hannah) of Clinton; three great grandchildren: Benjamin Baxter, Mary Carr Baxter, and Ayla Ayres.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joseph, Sr., Geraldine was preceded in death by five sisters: Margaret Crilley, Bertha Sepashe, Irene Lloyd, Betty Chomosh, and Laura Pakish; and one brother, John Smith.
