Mr. George Cary “G.C.” Melvin, 75 of 217 Patches Lane passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00 PM at Carr’s Chapel FWH Church with Rev. Dr. Billy Bass, Rev. Dr. Teresa Ammons, and Rev. Pete Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Roseboro Cemetery.
Born in 1948 in Sampson County, “G.C.” was the son of the late George Reamus and Addie Perry Melvin. “G.C.” was a member of Carr’s Chapel FWH Church, a former member of the Goldtone Band and the Red River Revival Band, and a retired farmer. He was a former employee with Kennedy’s Wood Products, and the Pianist for Carr’s Chapel FWH Church and the FWH youth camp. “G.C.” was a simple man who loved his family and friends, and will greatly be missed.
“G.C.” is survived by his wife, Sandra Thompson Melvin of the home; two sons: Johnathan and Charlie Melvin both of Roseboro; four stepdaughters: Deborah Jones of Clinton, Betty Smith of Salemburg, Gloria Johnson of Raleigh, and Sandra McMillan of Autryville; two stepsons: Bo Bullard of Middleburg, FL., and Terry Bullard of Roseboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church and other times at his home.
