Florence Elizabeth (Benton) Warren

Florence Benton Warren, a lifetime resident of Faison, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 28, 2018, at the age of 93.  Florence has now joined her husband of 67 years, Carlton E. Warren, Sr. (Pete) in their heavenly home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Faison United Methodist Church with Rev. Jabe Largen officiating. Interment will follow in the Faison Cemetery.

Florence was born on April 3, 1925 in Sampson County. She was the daughter of the late Ernest E. Benton and Nettie Bradshaw Benton.  She was a longtime member of Faison United Methodist Church.  She was mostly a stay-at-home mom for many years, taking care of her family, whom she adored.  She later worked at the Children’s Shop in Clinton for fifteen years. She was “Granny” to most all who knew her.  She enjoyed working in her home and yard and loved taking care of her grandchildren.  She had a wonderful personality, a sweet smile and never met a stranger, having the gift of striking up a conversation with anyone.  She will be celebrated every day through the footprints she left on the hearts and souls of everyone who knew and loved her. “Granny” will definitely be missed!

She is survived by her sons: Carlton E. Warren, Jr. (Linda) of Grifton, NC; Tim Warren (Kathy) of Faison; daughter, Judy Warren Collie (Mike) of Carson City, NV; five grandchildren: Donald Andrews, Melissa Sutton, Allison Sauls, Steve Ginn and Jenna Warren; niece, Jan Ervin (Alan); sister-in-law, Ann Matthews (Donald); and brother-in-law, Kenneth “Smut” Warren (Evelyn).  She was also blessed to have twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Tanner and a grandson, Carlton E. Warren, III.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm, in the Church Fellowship Hall.
