Mrs. Eula Byrd Rackley, 98, left her earthly home on Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022, to live eternally with her Lord and Savior, while surrounded by her loving family.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Flowers and Rev. Bobby Rackley officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall; and other times at her home.
Born on January 1, 1924 in Harnett County, Mrs. Eula was the daughter of the late John Elbert and Irene Tart Byrd and widow to the late Leon Kornegay Rackley.
Mrs. Eula was a homemaker all her life, with a passion for cooking, sewing, and quilting. She loved to do anything outside – rather it be in her garden, tending to her dogs or riding around in her golfcart, which she actually did up until recently. Thankfully, her mind continued to be sharp, and she always had a story to tell and loving advice to give. Mrs. Eula had a heart of gold and adored all of her grandchildren (all 82 of them). She has been a blessing to have as a mother and “Grandma” for so many years and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Because to know her, was to love her.
She is survived by four daughters: Betty Rackley of Clinton; Mildred R. Best of Warsaw; Judy Rackley of Clinton; Ann R. Jackson of Clinton; two sons: Frank G. Rackley and wife, Lennie of Jacksonville; Donald K. Rackley and wife, Deborah of Clinton; one brother, Horace Everette Byrd and wife, Itha of Dunn; thirteen grandchildren: Patricia Oglesby, Anita Gail Millen, Casey Wiley, Kenneth Best, David Johnson, Glenda Lanier, Julie Headley, Donnie Rackley, Kimberly Marketto, Bobby Rackley, Amanda Stegall, Brent Jackson and Crystal Kenny; thirty-two great-grandchildren and thirty-six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lillie R. Johnson, one grandson, Frankie Rackley; a sister, Alene Carroll and a brother, Edward Byrd.
Royal-Hall Funeral Home is honored to serve the Rackley family.
