Mrs. Emma “Billie” Smith King, 88, of Goshen Church Rd., passed away at her home on Sunday, June 19, 2022, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Beasley, Rev. Richard Weeks and Rev. Earl Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Faison Cemetery.
Born on July 23, 1933, Billie was the daughter of the late Herman Dalton and Edna Foss Smith, growing up in the little community of Beautancus in Duplin County. She married the love of her life, Norwood Oates King in 1955 and they raised their two daughters in Faison, in the Giddensville Community. She was a retired banker with Bank of America and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was a woman of strong, Christian faith, who served in several capacities within her church, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, and church trustee, among many others. She truly had a servant’s heart, finding creative ways to minister to those in need and those shut-in. She also had a passion for helping neglected, abandoned animals. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, whom she adored.
Billie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two daughters: Mary Faith Parker and husband, Jep of Clinton; Beth King of the home; and her brother, Donald Dwight Smith of Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood Oates King, her son, Norwood Alex King, brother, Jasper Smith; and her beloved dog, Daisy.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00, and other times at her home.
