Elizabeth "Lib" Skipper Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Jones Skipper, 79, of 695 Mt. Olive Hwy, Apt. 4-D, passed away peacefully at home Monday morning, September 12, 2022 with her loved ones by her side.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1pm, at the funeral home; and other times at her home. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born July 26, 1943 in Sampson County, Lib was one of five children born to the late Henry Floyd and Pinkie Medford Jones. She was the branch manager of State Employees Credit Union and after retirement she spent most of her time at North Topsail Island, with her husband, kids and grandchildren, where she enjoyed reading on the beach as her husband was fishing. She was an outstanding mother, wife, and grandma. She loved to cook and was well-known for her country cookin’, especially her collards. She loved nothing more than anything than having a house full of her family enjoying her home-cooked meals. Her legacy of love will continue on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, because each one of them knew how much they were loved by their “Mama Lib”.

Lib is survived by her husband, Eugene Skipper; daughter, Debra Hairr (Jim Butler) of Clinton; son, Rusty Smith and wife, Helen of Willow Spring; stepdaughter, Teresa DeVos and husband, Jack of Dunwoody, Georgia; stepson, Eugene M. Skipper, Jr. of Lake Mary, Florida; two sisters: Joann Logan and husband, Frank of Clinton; Evelyn McKenzie and husband, Burnie of Newton Grove; two brothers: Floyd Jones, Jr. and wife, Shelia of Mt. Airy and Bill Jones and wife, Karen of Athens, Georgia;  She was also blessed with eight grandchildren: Brandon Hairr (Diana), Lauren West (Joseph), Rachel Smith, Alison Smith, Kristen Karp (Philip), Katelyn Pike (Matthew), Dakota Czerniak (Gage) and Tucker Skipper; and her great-grandchildren: Gavin Hairr, Kadelyn Hairr, Zannah Hairr, Barrett West and Maddox West.

The family would like to thank the Newton Grove EMS for coming to the house so often when they would call. They would also like to give their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at Community Hospice and also to her caregivers: Sheila McLamb, Beverly Bailey and Katie Thomas for always going above and beyond for Mrs. Lib. They could not have gotten through this without you!

Royal-Hall is honored to serve the family.
